Most of the reorganization of lesson notes & handouts has been completed. More changes will occur, but the webpage is ready for student use.

In preparation for Spring of 2013, I will reorganize a few additional documents to better reflect the development of historical trends. In the process, the labeling of those documents may change, but not the content.

If there are any problems accessing the documents, please leave a comment and I’ll try to fix it.

Beginning on 25 May and extending through 26 May, there will be a significant reorganization to the Spring Term’s Lesson Notes and Handouts section. The impetus for this effort were complaints by students that the webpage was loading very slowly.

As accurately observed by one student, the Scribd embeds are CPU and bandwidth intensive. To address the performance drop, I will distribute the lessons and handouts over many webpages. Each page will be accessible from a list that appears when you hover the cursor over the “Sp Term Lessons and Handouts” item found in one of the drop-down lists in the “Courses” tab. The reorganization under chapter headings should enhance a student’s experience when accessing a specific document.

I didn’t intend to make these changes during the term considering the rapid migration of content to the new web host and substantial changes to the course schedule caused by the introduction of a new textbook (World History: Patterns of Interaction). This technical development, however, is substantially degrading the usefulness of the website and impacting student performance. The changes couldn’t wait until the Summer months.

Since the documents will be reorganized by chapter topics, this effort is expected to be completed by the end of 26 May. Anyone trying to locate a document prior to the completion of this reorganization may be frustrated. So, I suggest waiting until the 27th. I will post to our course blog and twitter feed that the reorganization is complete.
